2009 Weekend Of Fire Update And Vendor List

Here’s the latest on the Weekend Of Fire courtesy of JB from Jungle Jim’s. Wow, WOF is less than 3 weeks away!

Chiliheads, JB here from Jungle Jim’s and the Week End of Fire. No, I am not Jungle Jim and no I am not Brett Vitek, but I have learned a lot from both of them over the last 25 years. I have some big shoes to fill this year and will be leaning on a lot of you for your expertise and support. I am thrilled to be associated with an event of this magnitude, and excited at some of the events and good times we have planned.
Many of you have asked for a listing of who is attending the show so I’ve added it to the bottom of this e-mail. This year, the show will feature over 55 booths with sampling of hot sauces, BBQ sauces, salsas, mustards, spices and even Italian Ice. We are expecting over 3,000 attendees this year! The Bloggers booth and participation will be an integral part of the show. The bloggers will be:
1. Managing the National Salsa Contest Finals
2. Assisting with our “Step Up For Charity” Fund by selling product samples, donations, over runs and miss-labels for the charity. This is the Charity spearheaded by the Mild to Wild Sauce Company (WildPepper.com).
3. Adding to the fun and excitement of the show.
Oh and for our vendor partners let’s not forget the Friday night cocktail party at The Oscar Event Center featuring an open bar and complimentary appetizers beginning at 5:00 p.m., or the continental breakfast Saturday and Sunday mornings in the Oscar meeting room.
Some new additions to the show include having four portable restaurants set up in front of The Oscar Event Center during show hours selling BBQ food and roasted peppers and a brand new Harley Davidson Bike sitting in the main entry way! The infamous Defcon Hot Wing Eating Contest at Buffalo Wings and Rings will begin about 7:00 on Saturday Night along with a wrap-up dinner at Papadeux’s Restaurant on Sunday night. Wow, what a power packed weekend of fire!! Looking forward to meeting all of you on August 1st and 2nd .

Finally! Bret working for CaJohn is now common knowledge. That was killing me knowing something that others didn’t.
Hope FMK is still a go. Had a blast last year and looking forward to doing it again.

If I make it, it will be a last minute thing. With school right around the bend, and still unemployed, I’ve got lots of other priorities that come way ahead of a trip to JJ’s. Not that I don’t want to be there, but there’s a lot of pieces that have to fall into place in my life’s puzzle to make it happen.
So Hudd, who didn’t know? Read CaJohn’s comment (#50). He said that he’s been talking to anAL, so I would imagine everyone knew.

i didnt know. since i have been on line i havent seen a single post from al so how would everyone know what he knows. also why are you being such an a–hole, i dont know the story or why he dont post but you have been a D—K to everyone in the threads lattly to so i cant help but thinks that its probably you. dont worry i censored this comment so you dont need to remind me of the rules that i havent broken yet in the entire time i have posted here.

Guys don’t fight because of me. I am sure DK can tell you that he is going through a lot lately and maybe things don’t come out the way they are intended all the time. I am sorry things got out of hand to the point where I do not feel like posting here. I am sorry that TC and I had a falling out, mostly my fault. Sorry Cap’n, I should never said the things I said and tried to push my own agenda down TTF’s throat. I wish there was better communication on your part, but you have your own problems and I should be more understanding.
DK and I kept things behind the scenes for the sake of airing things publicly on TTF. This of course should be handled there or at the very least in the NFZ. Things have certainly changed around here and it is that philosophy that I do not wish to come here and “hang” anymore. I am working on other projects and hope to have TTF to be a part of that, but I am not sure TTF wants that, and that is okay. If so, I will welcome the partnership with open arms. DK has been more than a friend to me, more than most that I have ever had. Brant, Huv and DK got me to the show last year. I was homeless when I left and when I got back last year. I was quite broke and if it wasn’t for their friendship towards me I never would’ve joined in the fun at last years WoF. That is something I will never forget and it chokes me up just to think about it.
I have many friends that I have made here, from the shows and at CaJohn’s cabin. FMK is scheduled for Columbus Day Weekend in October, and I hope to be there. I will be at Jungle Jim’s Weekend of Fire, and hope my friendship with Bret won’t be hurt by my participation. I still have many friends at the show and my desire to help out the vendors there won’t go away because of Bret leaving Jungle Jim’s. I still think of the show as Bret’s baby. Even though he can’t be a part of that now, I still hope the dream that Bret had to make that show a place where Northeastern fiery food makers could go cheaply and be a Nationwide happening comes to fruition. Those little companies looking for a show such as this is reason enough for me to hope it is a success. Talking to Chuck Evans last week made me feel very proud to be a part of this industry in the fashion I am. Man he talks more than me!
If someone believes that going to the show is stabbing my friend in the back has a right to their opinion. Talking to Bret, I do not think this is the case, but only he knows in his heart how he truly feels. I hope he understands my intention. DK, I still hope we are friends too even with our apparent differences in philosophy and disagreements over the past few months. I would like to think I can be there for you anytime you need me like you have been for me. We had a talk a few months ago on the phone when I was feeling down and out, and it made me appreciate you even more as a friend. I would hate to lose that.

I’m sure you’re not the only one that didn’t know, hell, I didn’t even really know. I had heard rumor, but that’s all. That’s why it was never posted here. If Bret or CaJohn wanted to make an announcement, then they both how to contact me to get it posted. And they are both completely capable of posting it within the comments themselves as well.
As for me being a DorK to everyone, if that’s derived from my rant about the quote button, then so be it. I did everything I could to notify people what was going on, and made every attempt possible to get the feature to work. Yet all I got from anyone was bitching and moaning and complaining. So hell yea I was a little pissed. Mainly because it felt like I was spending more time babysitting a bunch of crybabies than I was working on the site. So I put my foot down and put a stop to the crap. If that makes me a DorK, then so be it.
I’m sorry if I’ve said anything to upset you Justin. I have no beef with you or anything you’ve said. If I did, you would have received an email and it would have been discussed between us as it should be.
