Let’s start with a little background on how I met Xero(Art). We had exchanged email messages over questions and concerns about shipping rates. I had looked over his website and saw how much the shipping cost would be to ship just 1 jar of salsa. I think it was $11 or something close to that. His jars only cost $5.50 each, so to pay $11 more was crazy. This was something the website had setup through UPS. Since I work for USPS, I wanted to tell Art about some of the benefits to ship with them. One thing in particular was that the flat rate boxes would not only benefit him in the long run, but it would also benefit his customers. Well Art wanted to show his gratitude and wanted to send me a gift box with some of his salsa. I was taken a back when his generosity arrived in the way of 6 jars, 2 of each heat level, plus 2 seasoning spices.

I was not expecting Art to unload so much on me. The next day I tore through his medium jar of Nice ‘n Hot as you can see in the picture. The other jar unfortunately was broken in the mail. My luck, after recommending the USPS, they screw-up. It was spot on good! It was better than good, and it had a nice heat to it for a medium salsa. Thick and chunky! The way I love a salsa to be. I had the hot variety called Severe Salsa, but that was a bit too hot for my tastebuds. There is a hint of extract in it, and I would recommend this heat level to Justin for sure. Art told me though it is his most popular salsa, and that no one else has noticed the extract taste but me. The mild one is called Mellow Salsa, and that was the one I was going to donate to the TTF Biggest Loser Weight Loss Challenge, but my Jewish guilt kicked in, and I had to give up both the mild and the hottest one instead. Here is a close up of all three jars, including the one Nice ‘n Hot that I polished off.

The two seasonings on top of the jars in the picture are to add a little flavor and heat to your food. I had tried both, and the habanero one called Dry Heat, gave a nice fiery edge to it. I really enjoyed the Chipotle one, Smoke’ N Heat, especially on the chicken that I sprinkled it on. They both were really good on top of the butter that I put on my broccoli. It really made the broccoli taste great! Using the same formula on a buttered baked potato, I really liked the burn that I got from the habanero of the Dry Heat.
Xero is trying to put some money in his pocket, because frankly he really needs it. So to try to make a little extra cash, he is offering to throw in a gift with each order. We all have hard times, and business is slow right now, so I hope you can throw a little support his way. His Nice ‘n Hot salsa is absolutely delicious! I could easily say that to help a fellow TTFer, but I honestly believe in this product, and think it is as good of a salsa as the most popular brands that we all love. One way to find out though, and that is to buy some. I hope you throw some support his way, and at least try one jar.

Art has a winner with his “Mellow” salsa. I have a jar of the “severe” that I haven’t broken into yet, but I will as soon as I can make some space in the fridge. The heat level on the “mellow” salsa has a nice fresh homemade flavor, and the heat is in the med range. Don’t just buy one jar..You’ll need at least two.
Great stuff Art!
Wish I had two jars.
I guess it’s hi time I placed an order huh?
Where can we buy this from? Is there a URL in the story that I am missing?
The Severe has extract heat, so be mindful. As I said before the Nice ‘n Hot is perfect heatwise for us Chileheads.
Thanks for the kind words everyone. Great review :nerd:, I promised myself I wouldnt cry. sniff, sniff. The Severe does have a touch of extract in it. In a 60 gallon batch, there is only 400ml. It is our best seller because down here (Alamogordo NM) chileheads are a dime a dozen. The Mellow has a little more cilantro in it. I think its a little bitter but cilantro lovers will think its great. I actually made that one for my wife. I will throw in some free spices for any TTF’ers that order. I have been working on a hot sauce, but it is slow going.
Looking forward to the salsa Xero. Don’t worry Xero if I don’t like it I’ll take it out on
But I’m sure it will be excellent,
did beat me in the FMK salsa contest.
as if that was a real challenge. What else do you make that I can beat you at?
No problem Xero, I am glad to help. It was a pleasure to get to eat it.
mmmm, salsa.
One thing you might want to practice at is go-cart racing…….. Good news at least they will give you a new go-cart if you get a flat.
Art’s a great guy and is definitely deserving of everyone’s support. I’m looking forward to purchasing some of his incredible products but it may be in a month or so before I scrap some dinero together. Hopefully
helped you straighten your shipping charges out…I was going to mention that it seemed a little out of whack when I was checking out your site. Good luck Art.
Same here bro, 9.50 to ship 1 jar
Guess I should be buying more than 1 but $$ is very tight.
