But when it’s down to mere seconds, to me the winner should be the one that actually FINISHED the wings. If there’s three seconds difference and the winner didn’t clean his bones, I think they should be given the three seconds to do so. If they can’t, then they lose. There should be speed, endurance, AND accuracy. Hell, if you don’t have to clean the bones, then just take one bite, swallow and then move on. Makes it easy.
But yea, that was in my mind lastt year. Clean the bones, and if I didn’t win, then examine the winners bones and protest if they weren’t clean. If you’re gonna do somethin’, do it right or not at all.
Ed’s friend Robbie who beat out Hudd in the Deathmatch in NJ, did the same thing, few bites and done, not clean. Yet the Creator said it was good enuff for victory.
Have any of you bonecleaners, ever made Lethal Ingestion wings yet? If not, then eat and time those little nasties.
Ain’t no such thing as “good enough”. Hell, you might as well just lick ‘em if you ain’t gonna eat ‘em.
Perv!
Had a LI wing at the North Market. OUCH!
Steve Salmon won fair and square OBVIOUSLY…if you didnt notice that big ass trophy in his hand you should rewatch the video…and regardless of how much chicken was left on the bone…it was obviously enough…it wasnt about suckin every speck of chicken off the bone…its about withstanding the heat of the sauce…
Maybe you guys should just try again next year…if steve doesnt come you might have a chance…
:fu: :bleep:
You can practice all you want, the key is to show up at the event
Welcome to TTF Cassi and Zack. Steve deserved the victory, he was declared the winner by the Creator and that is all there is to it. All complaints can be directed to him and not at Steve. People do have a right to their opinion and that is what some have done. Either way, we hope to hear from Da Champ soon!
Steve did a great job, he sat across from me and won fair and square. His bones where pretty clean and looked good to me…… Both John and Maggie kept saying how clean they wanted the bones and thats what the Champion did.
Congrats to Steve.
I think we caught you in our video. We’ll send out the video to DK this weekend.
I never said Steve didn’t win fair and square, but if I bust my ass to clean the bones and get beat by a couple of seconds, you’re darned tootin’ I’m gonna protest if the winner has meat on the bones. The final decision is up to the person or persons that run the event. My point was that you don’t get squat by not doing anything. That includes saying something in protest as well as stepping up to the table. Always clarify the issue. Don’t leave anything to chance.
No, I didn’t compete this year, but I won it last year. I’m not making any excuses for not sitting at the table this year either. I made the choice that I thought was best for me at the time. As far as heat goes, if you want to make it purely about heat, just pour straight Source extract on the wings and go for it. Make it a pure extract coated wing contest and just freakin’ hurt somebody. I’ve been down that road, it ain’t purty. Just man up and go for it.
Zack, you got plenty to be proud of for your dad. That’s a hell of a thing he did to come out of nowhere and win like that. My comments weren’t meant to take anything away from what he did.:tu:
We had the same discussion last year about cleaning the bones. Someone asked me about it then because they noticed that I cleaned mine pretty good and some others didn’t.
And I won regardless, so it wasn’t an issue. It was just discussion, nothing more.
Glad to see you finally stepped up and didn’t hide again this year.
Seriously, awesome job Blane. I wish you would have done it last year. I bet after this year you wish you did too. It’s a blast ain’t it?
Cool. Again, my comments were not directed against Steve. Just a discussion about cleaning the bones based on what Hudd was saying. If John and Maggie made it a point to mention, then that supports what I was saying. Eat ‘em, don’t leave any doubt.
Steve, i shook your hand at the show that Sunday. Congrats again bro. I look forward to sitting across from you next year.
And welcome to TTF Cassi and Zack!
The discussion of how clean the bones were wasn’t meant to discredit Steve’s win. Just an observation that I noticed and several others had pointed out to me also. I have no problem with the heat either. I also had stated that I spend extra time to get the little chunk of meat from between the two bones and that’s been my downfall. Had I left that little bit in Jersey,I would’ve won that one and possibly would’ve won at Jungle Jim’s a couple weeks ago. No hard feelings, no whinning, just a few observations is all. So Cassi and Zack I’m sorry if feathers have been ruffled. I didn’t intend to do that. As far as Steve winning, I congratulated him after the event and then again on Sunday when he stopped by the bloggers booth and we had our pic taken. And yes, there is always next year.
hey thanks everyone. yea im definitely proud of my father. not just because of his accomplishments on being afraid of nothing but because the man he is. im not mad at anything you guys said about clean bones or what not. again i see it as you guys are all crazy he just happened to get a trophy in the process. lol. im thinking about coming next year so i hope to get to meet everyone then.
Yea, we’re all a little nuts. LOL!!
Lookin’ forward to seeing you guys next year Zack!
Hey, you might want to keep an eye on the Fire Mountain Krewe (FMK) gathering in TN that’s being planned for Oct. It’s not a show, just a get together of a bunch of us chileheads with CaJohn in the mountains of TN for a weekend. Gatlinburg is a great place to visit that time of year, chilehead gathering or not. You guys are welcome to come on down and join in.
Maybe we can get CaJohn to have a little Lethal Digestion Wing-Off at FMK.
I’s gonna be mountain oysters. I’m bringin’ ‘em this time. Ain’t no gettin’ out of it.
Last year we had a salsa conest. This year I want a cooking challenge. Those that wish to participate will make a signature dish for the Saturday night feast. The judges will be everyone, you just can’t vote for your own dish.
Anyone want in?
I vote for the mountain oyster eating contest. Coat ‘em with 10 wing sauce (kick it up with some lethal?) and do it no hands. Face first into the plate.
I’m bringing them regardless. You’ll have to eat ‘em either way, my contest or yours.
