Gatlinburg’s Ribfest & Wings

If you are near Gatlinburg Tn on April 19th you should check this event out. I had a great time last year, especially spending time with CaJohn, Wanza, and MSK, but unfortunately this year is a no go for me. I’ve got way tooo many things going on that will be keeping me here at the beach.

| Gatlinburg’s 6th Annual Ribfest & Wings GATLINBURG – Roll up your sleeves and dig into the tasty menu at Gatlinburg’s 6th Annual Ribfest & Wings festival on Thursday, April 19, from 4 to 9 p.m. in its new downtown location. Come out and enjoy live entertainment, children’s activities and a hot wing eating contest, each promising a lip-smackin’ good time! This year’s event takes place on the Parkway parking lot surrounding the Harley Davidson store across from Hard Rock Café near Traffic Light #3. Awards will be presented to the best ribs or wings in six categories. All vendors will be vying for the coveted “People’s Choice Award” chosen by popular vote. “We think this will be our best Ribfest & Wings extravaganza ever,” said George Hawkins, Special Events Manager for the Department of Tourism. Some of this year’s participants include Crawdaddy’s, the Gatlinburg Police and Fire Departments, Westgate Resort, Corky’s BBQ, TGI Friday’s, Gatlinburg Elks Lodge, Eight Gables Inn, Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort, Lineberger’s Seafood Company, Bushido Security and more! To enter your recipe as a vendor and compete for awards in categories including restaurant, lodging, attraction, retail, financial institution, public safety and civic organization, call the Office of Special Events at 436-0506. An arm band for Ribfest & Wings may be purchased for $10 that allows as long as they last sampling, or shell out a “buck for a bone or two wings.” Hot wing eating contests sponsored by The Pepper Palace will take place at 5 and 6 p.m. and will feature sauces such as “The Hottest Sauce in the World,” “Ring of Fire,” “Sweatin’ in the Smokies,” and “Death by Wings.” Prizes will be awarded to the “Hot Wing Eating Contest Champion of the Year.” See if you can handle it! Children’s activities include face painting and balloon artists to create the most inventive creatures ever! |

Very nice thread, wish I could be heading up that way….. But with JJ’s and Zest Fest, then Tenn in Oct, I think CaJohn will be tired of seeing me….lol…

Another Rib & Wing Fest is in the books, not as fun as last years, but a good time was had by all! The sauces were not as hot as last years either. We had 10 out of the 1st 12 make it to the final round. They dropped like flies and last years grand champ was out of the money. His friend won the round and a big trophy too. I’ll be sending T Sea a few pics to commemorate the event. Hope he and MSK can make it next year. The rest of you are welcome as well!
