Gators, Guns and Trains
By DK | May 19, 2008 |
Well, another weekend has come and gone. A beautiful one here in SC at that. I would like to share a part of my weekend with the TTF Krewe, some pics from a trip that I made to the firing range with my brother, nephew, and step-dad this past Saturday.
I recently acquired my dad’s hunting rifle (Remington 700 .243 ADL) and although he hunted with it last year, I wanted to make sure everything was in working order and that the scope was sighted properly. My brother and step-dad carried a small arsenal along as well. Two rifles (Savage .380 and a Winchester 94 30-30), and three pistols (Glock .40, a .357 Magnum (Smth & Wesson I think) and a 9mm of which model I’m not sure). They were still shooting two hours later when I left. LOL!
This was the first time that I had fired a rifle since nearly my High School days in the late 80′s. My shoulder hurts like hell! I ran a full box of ammo through the rifle and only had to make minor adjustments to the scope. I didn’t try the iron sights. Well, that’s as good of an excuse to make another trip to the range as any! Hehehehe!
I know that this isn’t hot sauce or spicy food related, but I just wanted to share this with the chilehead community. I had a great time and it felt great to get out and do something besides yard work. Hope you guys enjoyed seeing the pics. And a huge thanks to Cap’n Bones for allowing me to share this with you.
L8R G8r’s!

NOthing scarier than Rednecks with guns
Guns?
We don’t need no stinking badges….we need guns!
Thanks for sharing
So you “were” eating FKS BB&C salsa.
I knew it
I love the pics! Thank you for sharing.
I disagree, people who own guns and don’t know how to shoot or handle them safely are much scarier.
Don’t fear rednecks, just show them respect. You never know what they have in their pocket.
WHAT HOT SAUCE IS THAT?
HA HA, YOU GOT UF COLORED BALLOON FROM CAJOHN. SUX FOR YOU. (CAJOHN I MEAN NO DISRESPECT, I JUST AINT A UF FAN.)
COOL STORY.
“Is that a pair of Bubba teeth in yore pocket, or are yu just glad to see me?”
I’m glad everyone enjoyed the pics!
General, I got TWO Gator ballons!
Reverse order of colors. A huge thanks to Wicked Wanza and CaJohn for both of ‘em!
As for the other bottle, that’s just a teaser. It’s one bottle that’s part of a one of a kind 15 bottle set.
Stay tuned, I’ll have a post up soon on the whole set with a better pic of it and the other 14 bottles.
can you save me #12?
Looks like a good time, Luke and I went down to the RailRoad tracks and watched trains for about an hour on Saturday.
They’re not numbered. And it’s a single set. Which means that there’s only one. But there’s 15 in the set. Each one is different than the other. And they’re not for sale.
not even for one fiddy?
That train snuck up on me on the way home from the range Saturday. The tracks are just off the highway in that area and run parallel up until just past where I snapped that pic. I heard a horn behind me and checked my mirrors to see what the hell was coming up behind me. Just thought it pretty cool to be passed by a train in the middle of the boonies. LOL!!
Probably the coolest part was that was one of the lines my dad worked. He retired from CSX a couple of years ago. He was a conductor.
Sounds like you and Luke had a great time too Blane. So Luke likes trains?
Nope, not even with a K.
Trains and Tractors, everytime we go for a ride in the truck we have to go find some Tractors to look at.
:moon::dork: with guns, how novel.
Thats like New Braskians with corn on the cob on the dinner table
or Californians that like veggie pizza
or Jersey girls that like to party
or Floridites that like to bbq roadkill
or Georgians who like Coca Cola & cross burnings
or Washingtonians who like Seachickens with honey
or New Yorkers and foo foo drinks.
mmmmmmmmmmmmm Coke
I had a Remington 700 BDL 25-06 with Redfield widefield scope traded it for a Franchi Spas in 1995….. Sweet Rifle DK
i wish i had a walter PPK
or a
Red Ryder Ranger Model Air Rifle
Redfield wide-view scope on my .243 as well. Spas? Sweet!
I just bought a synthetic stock for it, gonna send it to Bell & Carlson to have a cammo finish applied to it. It’s an ADL stock, but I was thinking about getting a BDL stock for it and converting it. I’m not sure I would like the drop plate on the bottom though. It’s not that hard to cycle the rounds through it to unload it.
My first deer rifle was a Remington 742 semi-auto 30-06. I think it was the ADL model as well. I think my step-dad may have that gun now. Also owned a Winchester 94 30-30 and I also used to bow hunt. Had a Jennings Woody back before Bear bought the company. Sweet bow.
Maybe I could talk you and TBS into coming out to do a little deer hunting with me?
There’s a Red Ryder Hanging on Lukes wall.
That would be sweet!!!
My first BB gun was a Red Ryder. My favorite was an old Daisy Pump BB gun.
I’ve been thinking about one of THESE. Kimber .45
Anyone wanna trade for some hot sauce?
Great pics DK!!! It’s been forever since we’ve been to the range to shoot!! Gonna have to get Bill to get us out this weekend!! Thanks for sharing!!
Nice
It’s Walther!
Auditioning for a Bond film or Christmas Story?
What’s a matter, couldn’t get into a good school?
Hey
:dork:, I take exception to your comment…we also like to pan sear our road kill.
I just bought a 50 caliber mini-gun and am thinking about going quail hunting.
Works great for snipe too!
