Happy Labor Day!
I don’t think that kids really know what this holiday is for..they look at it as another cookout..End of summer..etc..
That cartoon says it all..this holiday is to celebrate the workers of this country. But the workers as labor is getting slim..some quotes from today’s paper here..
” Exports of Labor Taking it’s Toll on Households”
“This country can’t compete with countries that pay less than $5 a day to their workers.”
“Over the last 50 years, the biggest impact on the American worker has been the export of labor offshore, and it’s finally coming home to roost. Manufacturing was less than 12 percent of the GDP last year,” he said. “That’s a real stark contrast to what it was 50 years ago.”
” ‘Made in the USA’ should come back in vogue again,”
I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday!
I had a great “UNPAID” , but much needed holiday. Came back to work today w/ a boss that lectured us on how we needed to work extra hard to make up for our “day off” yesterday.
Not a joke…
