Short Bus Short – TTF Special Delivery

What you see here, is in my opinion the greatest piece of work ever done by a chilehead. Back in 2008, Hudd custom built these little gems for 20 of his friends and distributed them at the 2008 Weekend of Fire at Jungle Jim’s in Fairfield Ohio. All 20 of these custom Hot Wheels Dairy Delivery vans were hand painted and decaled one by one. I’m unsure of the actual time spent on each one, but I’m sure it was several hours each.

These were done back in 2008, so why do a post now you might ask? Well, a few days ago, Hudd sent me an email with a couple of pictures attached. The settings on his camera had gotten out of whack and he was shooting some test pics with it and he snapped off a couple of shots of his own custom TTF Dairy.

    Hey DK,
Not sure if anyone else took their Taste the Fear Dairy Delivery out of the package or not, so I took a couple up close pics of mine. Just playing around with the camera this morning.
    see ya hudd

I know for a fact that I haven’t opened mine. And I don’t plan too! It’s just too awesome to open. :tu: And although I know these little jewels have been discussed here on TTF, most likely in the NFZ or the WOF posts, I don’t think there’s actually any pictures of them. Maybe in a gallery of the WOF show pics? I’ll have to look back and see. But Hudd’s pics I’m pretty sure are the only one’s taken of one out of the package. Besides, not only are the pics awesome and post worthy by themselves, but this awesome project that Hudd put together for the chilehead community to share not only his love of hot sauce, but also his passion for collecting Hot Wheels, deserves whole lot more. So a post is the least I can do.

So enough from me. Check out the pics below of this awesome work of art from Hudd. I’ve also included a few pics of my #9 to show the packaging as well as the other details not seen in Hudd’s pictures. Details like the numbering on the package and the bottom of the van, as well as the package itself.

Hudd, THANK YOU again for such an awesome gift. You Rock bro. :grinn:

Thanks for the post DK! I like the borders you put around my pics. I ended up having around 75-80 hours in the project over 4 weeks time.
I started by drilling out the rivets that hold them together and took them all apart. I put the bodies into paint stripper and after several hours in the stripper, I cleaned them off and primed and repainted the bodies. After the bodies were good and dry the decals went on. I had a guy I’ve gotten in touch with through my Hot Wheels collecting make the TTF decals for me. I emailed him what I was looking for and this is what he come up with. Putting the decals on was the most time consuming. The ones on the sides had to be pressed into the body panels and all the air pushed out so they would have no air bubbles under them. You can look close and see the recessed panels and gas cap on most of them. Once they dried I sprayed the bodies with a few coats of clear to get a good shine. Once the clear was dry I reassembled them and used epoxy in place of the rivets that I had drilled out. I got on the computer and printed out the header cards, packaged the things up and there you go!
Mine is out of the package only because I have it in a display case with about 25 other Dairy Deliveries I have customized. I enjoyed making these for everyone and I’m trying to replenish my stock of Dairy Deliveries for a future custom project. They are pretty hard to find because so many of us Hot Wheelers use them for customs.
Hope everyone that got one enjoys displaying theirs half as much as I enjoyed making them for everyone.

I LOVE MY TRUCK!! Hudd is the KING of Hot Wheels customization. Do I see a “Redline” version for the future? Just kiddin Hudd.
I need to spend some time with my son this winter building a few Hot Wheels customs. We’ve built about a dozen so far. It’s fun, cheap, and is great for “bonding” time.
