Taste The Fear Status Report

Hello everyone! I just wanted to give everyone a status report on a few things that’s been going on behind the scenes here on TTF. I’ll keep it short, I promise!
First of all, I would like to apologize for being so slow to post content. As most of you know, I have started college and am pursuing an Associates Degree in Mechatronics. That has been my number one priority lately. The first couple of weeks has been pretty tough and I haven’t really had a lot of time to devote to the site. However, TTF is not forgotten. As I adjust to my schedule, I will be posting material on a more regular basis, so please bear with me.
Secondly, the No Fear Zone format has been changed. The NFZ is now only accessible once you are logged into the site. However, the NFZ Recent Comments in the left sidebar will show at all times so if you are not logged in you can still see when there are new comments there. You can also still conveniently access the NFZ through the recent comments on the left, but only when you are logged in. If you are not familiar with how to log in to the site, there is a link in the left side bar under the Meta section at the bottom.
Taste The Fear is dedicated to being a publicly accessible web site. Logging in is not required to view anything contained on the site aside from the NFZ. Please remember, the NFZ is the off topic area on TTF. Please, as always, please refrain from posting off topic comments in posts other than the NFZ just to avoid logging in. Any off topic comments posted elsewhere will be subject to being moderated, moved, or deleted.
I think that about covers it, if I think of anything else I’ll add it to the comments below. Oh, one more thing. I would like to wish everyone a happy and safe Labor Day weekend!

UPDATE: I have added a second login for the site in the left sidebar. It is located just under the recent NFZ comments. This login allows logging into the site without being redirected to another page. It also has a password reset feature if you have forgotten your password. The other login in the Meta section still works. The advantage of using it is that it will take you to your user page that will give you access to your profile info and allow you to change your password if needed. If you are already logged in, there is a link in the Meta section that says “Site Admin” that will take you to your user page.
Note: New registrations must use the link in the Meta section in the bottom of the left sidebar.

Good point Huv. When you log in, there is a tick box that says “Remember Me” or something to that effect.
Works great for people with short term memory like me!
Of course if you don’t remember it the first time, there could be a problem.
I think there’s a way to retrieve or reset the password though. If anyone has trouble with it, please email me.

Hey Huv, when you are logged in and it works, you should see the post at the top of the home page like normal.

Ok, NOW it’s fixed.
made it in okay. I have a couple other sites I used to go to that use the same log in system.
One thing I’m trying to get to work is to add the login to the sidebar so you aren’t directed to a separate login page.
The sizing is wider than the sidebar though. Once i figure out how to get it to fit, all you will have to do is login in the sidebar and you will stay on the same page.

Try it now Sandi. For some reason when I set the privileges, your account didn’t accept it. I reset it manually on your account, so it should work now.
If anyone else that is already registered has a problem, please email me and let me know.

Anyone know how to login on the blackberry?
Huv, I had to find another mobile interface that supported the Meta sidebar element of the site. Try it now, you should have the Meta section at the bottom of the page when you load it on your Blackberry that will allow you log in.
I tested it through my PDA here and it works.
Just noticed that if you log in through the mobile and do not have admin status, you will get a “denied” screen. Despite that, you are logged in, it’s just denying access to admin functions at that point. Click the link provided that says to continue to site and proceed normally.
I’ll keep looking to see if I can find something more user friendly, but at least it works for now.

I can’t log in, I never received a confirmation that my account was created and I either get an error message or told it cant find the no fear zone, i have tried for days with no luck…this sucks!
Ed try again. There are no comments in moderation from you, and nothing in the spam filter. Other than this comment from you, the admin hasn’t received anything to notify us that there is a problem. On Saturday, we received an email from wordpress that you registered, but nothing else. Please check your email.
If anyone else is having a problem logging in, PLEASE contact the admin via email asap so we will know that a problem exist.

Butch, click on the “lost password” link below the login form in the left sidebar. It will reset your password and send the new info to your registered email address.
If you still have trouble, email me using the contact form under the “Contact Us” link located under the main site banner.
