I very much like the label design. A cool red and white dragon on a gold seal with a black background.
Upon giving the label a close visual inspection, I couldn’t tell what the sauce company’s name was. Was it Kung Fu Monkey Brand or Red Dragon?
After opening the bottle I gave it a good whiff as always. I tried a bit on the back of my hand as I do with any new sauce. This sauce tastes exactly like it smells. A lot of sauces just don’t do that.
I poured a bit out on a dinner plate to check the consistently. Not to thick and not too thin. It has a nice red color and you can see the spices and seeds, which is always nice. The taste was very different from most any sauce I have tried. It certainly didn’t taste like papayas but I couldn’t quite identify the taste. It’s sweet, but not too sweet.
I tried it on a hard-boiled egg, good but not great. I then tried it on a shredded beef burrito. OK, this was the ticket! The sweetness of the sauce really came out. It would probably be great with any type of Mexican food.
The last dish I tried it on was some pork chops. Once again, the sweetness of the sauce stands out.
Smell 3/5
Heat 1/5
Flavor 3/5
Consistency 4/5
Overall 3/5
Kung Fu Monkey’s heat did not kick my ass, but I suppose it may be hot for the general consumer…… or Generallee ………..
(Nice segway Parker!
:D )
