    Review: Twisted Twin Salsa

    By Buddah | October 24, 2008 |

One of the pleasant things I found on my trip to the Chile Festival in Bowers, PA was this salsa company who was more than willing to do a review with me for TTF. The only complaint I found in doing this review is in the label. I have a hard time reading it even when it is in front of me. I am not blind, yes I can read it, but it should be easier on the eyes. The graphics and the wording just isn’t what it should be. The colors are fine, I just would like to see a better label on this product.

Twisted Twin Salsa is a salsa that I think is as good as any salsa that I have ever had in my life. I do not remember a jarred salsa tasting as fresh as this in the shelves in the stores. The consistency is right up my alley. Not watery, not too chunky, but holds well on a chip. In fact, this salsa was made to use on tortilla chips. Specifically Tostitos Multigrain Tortilla Chips.

I was given 3 levels of heat- mild, medium and hot, but I didn’t find much of a difference between the levels. I only felt the slightest of burns with the Hot version of the salsa. It don’t matter much to me as long as the salsa is as good as these taste. I finished off the medium version with my Tostitos for dinner one evening. I realized I couldn’t stop until the jar was done. I still had the other 2 jars to play around with. I decided to add some of the hot version to some of my mashed potatoes and although it wasn’t the end all, I did enjoy it.

I moved onto a cheese omelet next, and it made my breakfast a great one. I was still jonesing for some more chips with this salsa, so I polished off the rest of the jar that way. As much as I enjoyed the omelet, there is no replacing a good salsa and chip combo.

With my fixation with the Tostitos, I decided that a queso dip was in order. I used some sharp cheddar with the mild salsa until it was smooth, but thick with the tomatoey goodness of the salsa. Absolutely friggen awesome! I have a cupboard full of all kinds of salsas right now, but I know in my heart of hearts I will be ordering more of this chip lover’s salsa in the near future. I would encourage you all to go to their website, purchase the 3 pack for $10 plus $6.50 for shipping and handling. You still get a deal and a half and it works out to $5.50/bottle this way. You will not be sorry. I know we have some friends here in the salsa business, and they also make quality salsa, but Twisted Twins Salsa is a company that should not be just for some people in a remote area of Pennsylvania, it should be in your state too. Just look past the label and you will find a salsa to be reckoned with. :dtu:
